Tesla now offering free paint to push sales

Tesla was known for their strict policy of not offering discounts or sales to anyone including their employees. Recently a potential customer was contacted by a Tesla employee offering what’s essentially a $2500 discount or ~5% discount depending on your car setup.

The e-mail reads

Hi John,

Just sending a notice that our prices will be going up 3% in a week (every car except the $35k model).

If you are willing to pull the trigger before then, I may be able to waive the price of either paint, interior, or the rims.

Let me know if you are interested!

Since the highest price out of rims, interior, or exterior paint is the red paint at $2500, this is essentially a $2500 discount.
