How to make Orenchi Ramen Soft Boiled Eggs Recipe
If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, chances are you’ve heard of or have been to Orenchi Ramen.
People continue to say how great their one soft boiled egg inside the ramen is.
This recipe will teach you how to make the marinated soft boiled egg at home.
What you need
1. Egg
2. Water
3. Pot
4. Clock or Timer
5. Baking Soda (recommended for easy peeling)
6. Sweet Soy (for marinade)
7. Mirin (for marinade)
Step 1 – Boil Water
Not much to explain here, fill up water enough so an egg can dip all the way in and start boiling it.
Step 2 – Boil Egg for 5 Minutes and 45 Seconds
Insert the egg in the boiling water.
That’s really the key to making Orenchi eggs. It’s the 5 min 45 sec time.
That time will make the egg not hard and not too soft.
Optional – To make it easier to peel the egg shell, you can add a teaspoon of baking soda in the water.
Step 3 – Peel your eggs
Please be gentle with your eggs. Since they are soft boiled, they are easier to break.
Step 4 – Marinate your eggs
Place your peeled eggs in a bowl or bag of soy sauce and mirin.
You can be creative here and put it in some broth too.
That’s it! Show it off to your friends!
The ramen part does not matter too much and just depends on your preference.
Pick up a decent ramen pack at your local Japanese grocery store.
